Charlie Hands wins October Player of the Month

Hard running Charlie Hands has been named as the Old Wheatleyans Player of the Month for October. With only 2 1st XV games in October, coming at the start of the month, Wheats have had a quiet month. We have played Harbury away in the league and Rugeley away in the RFU Junior Vase. Charlie Hands has been stand out performer in both games.

Against Harbury his hard running caused havoc amongst the Harbury defence and he managed to score one of the best tries of the season so far for the Wheats. Just inside his own half he smashed his way through the backline and showed incredible speed for a number 8 to finish under the posts untouched.

A week later the Wheats travelled to Rugeley in the Junior Vase competition. Charlie was moved from the back row to inside centre due to injuries. Again he caused huge problems in attack and defence. He made some big line breaks and smashed his way over for 2 tries. He was a key part to a great second half comeback from the Wheats that saw them score 32 unanswered points.

Unfortunately, there were no more games for the Wheats in October due to Kings Norton cancelling our league tie and a free weekend last Saturday.

Charlie will line up this weekend away at Pershore back at No.8 hoping to carry on his excellent form.
