So the Wheat’s knew the score, win with a bonus point and the promotion was sealed. Start as we mean to go on, Captain Wright (tardy), and the added shit weather made for a poor start to the warm up - Fleas in our ears from DFS & Skip. The starting XV headed onto the pitch to receive the Exiles kick off. With the first 3 minutes of rugby ball ping pong the Wheat’s registered the first of many tries. A Wheat’s lineout in the corner drove on and fed Rob T to release the backs instead giving a short pop on the inside to “Half pint” Chris Mills to skid in for the first of his 3 trys.
Clark stepped up added the extras for a 7-0 start. The Wheat’s lineout was a success and the resolute defence held of some more exiles attack, Loach was sitting down the opposition like he has done all season and released his fellow back Snake Harrison to skate in for the first of his 5.
12-0 Wheat’s

Another solid line out and with Lowey finding his range post copious amounts of cherry VK, hit RobT wide to release Nolan with a 2 on 1, there was going to be only one outcome; Harrison under the sticks.
17-0 Wheat’s

Once again the Wheat’s were terrorising the Exiles, give them credit they were tough cookies even to the point Ben Weaver semi decapitated their 15. But this didn’t slow us down, we pressured the ball deep towards the Exiles 22 and the reshuffled Exiles full back kick didn’t find touch, cue James Thomason to ghost over the line for a try untouched.
22-0 Wheat’s Bonus point secured.

Half pint was punching holes, left right and centre in the Exiles also adding numerous Quade Cooper/SBW offloads some going to hand or the knee/shin/toe in Rossco’s case!! There were only a few minutes to push until the next score. Half pint scything through weak tackles for his second of the afternoon. Clark adding the extras.
29-0 Wheat’s

Enter the fray Pete Mills, if he isn’t destroying the opposition in attack/defence or in the scrum, he can be found out wide offering support to the backs. It paid off when he was seen flying down the wing and Samoan sidestepping the 15 to coast in. Clark keeping the score board ticking and on the stroke of half time the Wheat’s went in with a 36-0 score line.

Half time 36-0

The first 10 minutes of the second half had started like the warm up, a shambles. Dropped balls, kicks not making touch and a mixture of handling errors allowed a determined Exiles to capitalise and score. The ball popping out the side of the scrum for the no.6 to score,

Cages Rattled.............
The Wheat’s brought on new knees, SBS and moved Clark to 10. This brought a new emphasis to the game. Clark finding his feet at 10, sending Loach up the midfield, quick forward play resulted in Clarky releasing SBS off down the wing stepping in off his left foot and to score out wide.
41-7 Wheats

This was the first of 3 tries in 7 minutes. Ruthless Wheat’s playing with the finesse that puts us in the box seat to win the league and counter attacking rugby, lead to Snake Harrison leaving several Exile defenders in his wake. Two try's in 5 minutes and he had his 3rd and 4th, the latter being converted by SBS.
53-7 Wheats

Out of the blue the Exiles found some spirit and fight. A scrum in the Wheat's 22 and their elusive 10 cut a superb line and caught RobT off guard and cruised over for the second exiles try.
53 - 14 Wheats

The last 10 minutes were just like the 10 minutes before , Ross Harrison scoring a quick fire hatrick in 6 minutes, all these were scored from great forward work and a real hunger. Sandwiched in-between a superb counter attacking try. Starting in our 22, new knees Rubery collecting a Garry Owen from the sky. Calling mark and then had great vision to pick out Chris “Half Pint’s elusive break and with great support from cherry VK Rich, Lowey pinned his ears back and on contact popped back inside to the orphan.
