What a night we had on Saturday. Celebrating our wonderful club and first team! 72 wonderful Wheats packed into the clubhouse to eat lasagna, drink beer, admire Wrighty’s balloon arch and enjoy each others company ?

As most of you know back in September it looked like we wouldn’t even have a season to celebrate! Having to pull out of our first TWO fixtures leaving us hanging on by a thread in the league. An emergency club meeting was called to discuss the future of our great club. That day will go down as one of the most important days in Wheats history!! The spirit and love for the club came through and we managed to field a team for the remaining games of the season!

Credit to every single lad who pulled on the shirt this season like the old heads Handsy, Liam & Craigy or one of our new youths Josh Mann & Jack Oddy ? Moff seen the error of his ways & returned, Stefan returned to the Wheats after 6 years out bringing along his powerhouse mate Kenny, Pahal’s little black book of players helped more than once. Tom Evans & big Charlie stopped pulling pints behind the Wheats bar and played most weeks ? Matty, Burnsy, TJ, Benny Bryant, Josh and Oddy seriously reduced the team’s average age (glad their rugby skills are better than some of their downing pints skills). Big Morgs and ultra Dom made sure it wasn’t just the young lads making Wheats debuts this season!
All steered by the one and only Clarky! Coming in as coach to a whirlwind he stuck by the club and was a vital part of keeping the team going ❤️

Injuries galore to regular players didn’t stop us from getting good teams out and competing against some very good sides. A few last minute heartbreaks and some close games denied us from having a few more wins but with a bit of grit and some luck we remain in Midlands 2 West (East) next season! Just where we belong! With yesterday’s Under 15’s cup win and the youth we now have in the 1stXV the future is really looking promising ?

Thanks to everyone who came and cheered on the lads on Saturday afternoons! Beero, Kev, Harty, Greg, Phil, Lucy, Molly just to name a few! Harry Bryant for being the greatest linesman on the planet, and Freddie Vincent for running on the tee every week for his new favourite (poor Gaz) Matty Jack! Both Harry and Freddie are both HUGE parts of our team and club ?

A massive thanks goes to Kerry our super physio who certainly was kept busy by the boys (Morgs & Liam)! A wonderful personality to have at the club and she deserves a thousand medals for dealing with SOME of the lads on match days ? ❤️
